Help us, help you save money-
Water Department: Did you know that if you
have a water leak that produces a stream of water 1/16th of
an inch that you will waste over 74,000 gallons in a three month
period? Make sure all your faucets turn off properly and your toilets
do not have leaks or your water bill will show it. A dripping faucet
alone can waste three gallons of water per day.
Some other water conservation tips:
- Take shorter showers
- Only do full loads of wash
- Run the dishwasher when it is full
- Water your lawn and garden as needed, at night
Street Department:

your needs. 946-4613
This winter was a tough season for our roads.
Please bear with us while we work at getting them in shape for the
upcoming season.
Sewer Department:
THINK BEFORE YOU FLUSH:
Did you ever imagine what comes through to our
Sewer Plant in the way of toilets and drains from your home or
business? Sure you can think of the obvious, but what about kid’s toys,
pillow cases, bath towels and pool balls? Our Sewer Plant has seen it
all! These types of materials cannot be “treated” but are taken away
each month for disposal. It represents about 1,640 pounds of material
per month that the Village has to dispose of. In addition, many of our
restaurant businesses produce fats, oils and grease (FOG) that clog our
sewer mains. This past month the FOG’s helped to clog our sewer mains
on 4 occasions representing increased sewage for treatment and disposal,
manpower and equipment to alleviate the clogs. So, think before you
flush and keep you pool balls at home!
The Village is working on a FOG program that will
affect the producers of fats, oils and greases. Stay tuned for upcoming
information on the program.
Community News:
The Village and Town of Lyons are
working together on a Strategic Plan that will allow us to grow the
future of Lyons. Anyone who is interested in participating in this
process is welcome to join our meetings that are held at the Town
offices at 5:00 pm on the first Wednesday of every month. We just
received a $15,000 grant to help us finalize this plan and we want your
input.
